Gay Talese Makes a Call

[Phone rings]
Me: (Impatiently) This is Angela.
Caller: Hello, I'm trying to reach Angela.
Me: (Eye rolling) This is Angela.
Caller: Hello, this is the guy you got tea for this morning.
Me: (Bewildered) ummm...
Caller: My name is Gay Talese. Do you remember?
Me: (Gulp. Nervous laugh). Oh, of course. How are you?
GAY TALESE: I was wondering if you could help me with number of this author.....
Conversation ensues. Talese is incredibly gracious and polite. Carone is sheepish but amused.
Lesson: Always answer the phone in a pleasant and cordial manner. You never know who might be calling.
