Smoking Bans
The list of places San Diego smokers can light up keeps getting shorter. The Metropolitan Transit System is considering a ban on smoking at bus stops. It's just the latest effort in a string of local smoking restrictions. Last August, the San Diego City Council banned smoking in public parks and beaches. A ban in Qualcomm Stadium went into effect in October. Earlier this month, the County of San Diego banned smoking in county parks, open spaces, and hiking trails; and the Port of San Diego banned it from their parks, beaches, and piers.
Non-smokers may be breathing a sigh of relief, but others say that it's yet another example of government intrusion on private life.
What do you think? Are smoking bans a good or bad idea?
